The vintage rain lamp with a mill in the center of plastic green plants is from the 70 and is without oil for the "rain".
Approximately 31" from top hook to bottom. The bottom part is 11" in diameter.. so is the top.
There is a tube that has a plastic end which should go to the mill but that plastic has been broken. (see picture) The mill wheel turns when tested with a finger.
The vintage lamp has Not been tested for "rain" because there is no oil in it. When turn on, the motor makes a soft humming noise, so not sure it work, no guarantees. The light works. There is rust on the top of the rim of the bottom holding the greenery. (see picture) The cord chain is also rusty.
Following info was found on Goggle.
Use mineral oil, which is both affordable and available at most drug stores.
Along the base, you will see small holes in a collection pan at the bottom. Carefully add oil by pouring into these holes a small amount at a time. The lamp should resume the raining effect after about 1 pint of oil has been added, so wait a few minutes to see if your lamp has enough oil needed to start doing so. If not, add more about a half pint at a time, stopping every so often to check if the lamp has started working again. The motor pumps oil to the top of the lamp, which sends it cascading down the web of fishing line through small holes to create the effect of falling water β or rain.
