Gerda Bengtsson's Book of Danish Stitchery,by Gerda Bengtsson 1972 – this book is vintage. Gerda Bengtsson has created a floral world that is a source of in¬spiration for countless embroidery designers. She paints flowers and plants in watercolor, often modifying colors and simplifying shapes for artistic reasons. Then she transfers the design to graph paper in several steps, each step bringing her closer to a working pattern for sewing, from which she can then copy the motifs onto the material. There are about ten de¬signs which she created especially for this book and for these she provides the complete sewing patterns, with color keys, so that all the information needed for doing the em¬broideries is there. In the last chapter, Mrs. Bengtsson gives full sewing instructions and illustrations for all the stitches that have been mentioned throughout the book.
