Hermie-Pie is a Virginia opossum! She is a part of Wildlife Adventure Time outreach and zoo of permanently injured and displaced animals. By symbolically adopting her you are helping to fund for new toys and enrichment for her and our sanctuary residents. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ANIMAL. We are a rescue that does not rehome our animals. This is a cute and fun fundraiser for our zoo!
Hermie-Pie was brought us after getting rehabbed by an opossum specialist for six months. Hermie was born with one eye underdeveloped and someone had found Hermie as a young opossum in the wild and they tried to make her a pet. Because she was fed an improper diet, she ended up getting Metabolic Bone Disease causing her to be immobile on her hind end. After being rehabbed, she is able to walk again, but is not able to run or move quickly. Since she is imprinted and permanently injured she cannot go back to the wild. She does enjoy the comforts of a safe home and enjoys coming out to do presentations. Her fur is especially soft and she likes to keep a clean coat. In her spare time she paints on canvases and promptly goes back to napping.
