This is a lightweight 5-panel (plus cups and shoulder straps) early nineteenth century Regency bra PDF pattern in sizes under-bust 26''-44''/66-112cm approx. cup sizes A-D. Seam allowances are not included on this pattern. Note that large bust sizes will not get sufficient support from this design - the cups are gathered to size and are fairly 'separated' as was the fashion of the time. The key measurement to take when referring to the size chart is your under-bust - ensure a horizontal tape is snug at the point where your bra band comfortably sits.
The design makes an excellent alternative to a bra. The design is lightly boned at the CF and uses shirring (smocking) either at the CF under the cup or/and on the band at the underarm. Shirring is the use of elasticated thread in the bobbin that creates the smocking/elasticated effect. In the Regency-era metal coils were used to create a similar effect - there are many extant examples of Regency stays of this time using this method to create elasticity.
Note – no lacing gap is factored into this pattern.
INCLUDES A 28 PAGE DOCUMENT OF GENERAL CORSET CONSTRUCTION & FITTING NOTES (see video)!
The bralet length measures 10.5-11cm at the centre front and 13-16.5cm at the back (depending on size).
This pattern is drafted in AutoCAD and available as an instant download - you will need to print out on size letter (A) or A4 paper, making sure 'actual size' and 'centre the print' is ticked in your print dialogue box. Although I include a tonne of written information with this pattern, I don't include a video of how to make this corset, sorry - there are plenty of YouTube tutorials on line if you are more of a visual learner.
Please take a look at my website where I have lots of information about corset making.
Please remember that this pattern can't be used for commercial profit (such as a line of ready to wear corsets) - use to your hearts content, but only for yourself and clients!
