This yarn is reclaimed, meaning I carefully unraveled it from a sweater I purchased at a thrift shop. The yarn is washed twice (once in sweater form, and once after unraveling) to remove debris and loosen the wavy texture. Thank you for investing in my sustainable small business!
Though I do my best to minimize the number of knots in my skeins, they are somewhat inevitable in reclaimed yarn due to the manual unraveling process. I try to keep the number of knots per skein to between 1 and 3. I make a simple double knot and keep the yarn tails long for easy weaving-in; if you prefer a different join method, I recommend you cut the knot out and use your own join.
Most lace weight cashmere is very fine, providing 1000+ yards to work with for every 100 gram skein. The good news? Tons of yarn for your money, and the possibility of making a small skein work for an entire project. The bad news? Most people can’t knit with one strand of super-fine lace weight yarn alone. Generally, I recommend holding this fine yarn double or even triple. You could pair it with itself, by winding two even cakes of yarn and holding them together while you knit. You could hold it with a strand of silk mohair for some extra halo and a lusciously soft feel. Or you could pair it with another, perhaps more rustic yarn to provide a softer hand. The possibilities are endless!
