This beautifully anatomically drawn heart comes from a very old natural history book. It shows all the details, even though it's so old. The heart is about the size of a fist and weighs different amounts in men and women. The study of the heart is called cardiology, this deals with the functions and its structure. In ancient Greece, the heart was seen as the central organ. The Arab physician Ibn an-Nafīs was the first to describe the heart in an anatomically correct manner.
