"暖簾Noren” or "御簾misu". Sold as a single piece. Another type with the same silk rim and tassel is also listed. The rim is a slightly shiny ochre yellow with a gentle light pink arabesque pattern and is made of silk. The tassels are brown-beige and the hooks are antique bronze.
The tassels are made of thinly split bamboo and other materials woven side by side with thread and used to divide a room or to block out the sun.
The bamboo is very delicate, and the use of silk fabric for the edging adds strength and a sense of luxury.
It is extremely expensive and is made entirely by hand. In Japan, it has been commonly used in aristocratic residences and temples since ancient times.
It is often used in summer as it blocks light moderately well.
It has a hook attached to its sturdy surface, on which it is rolled up, hung, and secured in an upraised position.
The metal fittings of these hooks are also decorated with beautiful arabesque patterns.
