This lustrous and romantic early miniature butterfly shaped lingerie pin is from a former ambassador’s fascinating Long Island NY estate. Although this piece is guilloche enameled on a brass base, it was treasured and found among an extensive collection of gold and silver jewelry which the family acquired over the years. This particular piece is distinctive not only for its delicate work and graceful “mini” proportions —but also for its delightful hand crafted period styling and its delicate color detailing and patterning on the wings (see photos). The pin measures about one inch across and a half inch in length (see photos). The piece is in very good vintage condition; it was stored in a leather box in one of the ladies’ vanities among several other pretty miniature pins.
