What can we say...anything Tom Murphy touches has a little magic in it. This guitar was delivered to the store it was sold from brand new on 10-9-2023. This guitar is as new as a used guitar can be! The pickup's are both power-horses that can be dialed-in in so many different and delicious ways! These are the un-potted PAF modeled pups that that have the Wildwood specs and are exceptional sounding. The Tom Murphy Painted Murphy Burst color is stunning. The flame on the book-matched maple top is a 3-D translucent work of art. From every angle, this guitar is just special. The guitar is Light aged by the Murphy Lab and has beautiful lacquer checking throughout but with minimal nicks and scratches. It's not chipped-up, gouged, scrapped-up and worn down to bare wood like the heavy aged version. There is a nick on this guitar shown in HD pics. This guitar looks like a 1960's guitar that was well taken care of and that has aged naturally & gracefully over the last 63 years. The guitar weighs in at 8.77 lbs. The neck is a 60's slim taper: .80 @ 1st fret and .94 @ 12th fret. The guitar has a really nice and dark Indian Rosewood board. Comes with all case candy. Now, things have come full circle, and our friends at Gibson have handed Tom the keys to a brand-new institution of sonic savagery within the Gibson Custom Shop: the Murphy Lab. Tom and his team of skilled craftspeople have one mission, and one mission only: to create the most ridiculously awesome recreations of vintage Gibson guitars that the world has ever seen. Step Into the Lab Murphy Lab is aptly named because it is basically the musical equivalent of what happens when you give a mad scientist a laboratory fully-stocked with warp drives and flux capacitors.
