PELZ ( Reworked Sep 2024 ) When I released the PELZ and RIZZ, my goal was to create a more controlled andtruly premium version of the WALHAUT. My go-to swap pad, aside from theWALHAUT, had always been the Hayate Otsu Soft Black. Having already sourcedthe Melone jacquard fabric from Japan, I knew it was excellent material, but I didn’twant to make a 1:1 clone of the pad. I had also heard from many users that theMelone pattern could feel abrasive, which influenced my decision. Instead of making a larger version of the Amundsen, which I had already prototypedand was known in the community (since I played it live on Twitch), I wanted toredefine the pad’s overall performance. The aim was to create a true "all-rounder,"something that could perform like the TAC+TRACK, the PRED+RADIANT, theGLOBAL+CHAMPIONS pad. That’s how the PELZ was born—a hybrid between theOTSU and WALHAUT, a "half-blood" WAL pad. I still enjoy the OG version, especiallywith some decent Victus2 or WAL Sapphire skates, but after break-in, it became tooslow. I remember Hausgaming saying he broke all his scores on Kovaak’s, but the pad felttoo slow for in-game play. That’s sad but true. It was great for short, high-performance stints but too demanding for extended gameplay sessions or casualrounds. As demand grew, I decided to make only slight changes, leading to the PELZReworked, which is available now and will remain the final version. Static Friction (Starting Friction)o The resistance you feel when moving the mouse from a complete stophas improved from the original release to the second version. Themedium static friction decreased from 6 out of 10 (with 10 being thehighest possible friction on a jacquard mousepad) to a solid 4.5,whereas a BLACK WALHAUT would rate around 3 out of 10. Thisreduction in friction allows for even more precise micro-corrections andgreater freedom in aiming, helping you outperform competitors in anysituation Dynamic Friction (Kinetic Friction):o The medium+ dynamic friction dropped from 7 out of 10 (with 10 beingthe highest possible friction on a jacquard mousepad) to a solid 5, whilea BLACK WALHAUT would be rated around 4 out of 10. Initially, thePELZ OG was too slow to be a crossover between the OTSU andWALHAUT due to the larger jacquard pattern used in production. Therework features a tighter knot pattern and is supported by a differentthread from the & "BLITZ Family," which helps maintain extremely lineardynamic friction Major Changes The new thread significantly reduces friction change after break-in compared to theOG PELZ. Additionally, the REWORKED PELZ offers higher water and soilresistance, making it even more effective against sweat and humidity. It’s also mucheasier to clean. While still uncoated, the reworked version achieves a lotus effectthrough its higher density and upgraded thread. These changes result in a noticeable shift in the surface’s overall feel. The PELZREWORKED provides a more detailed, "high-resolution" experience, optimized forsensors like the 3950 with fast ramp-up and high LOD (thanks to theWALPATERN™). It feels less abrasive and smoother on the skin, while offering morefeedback when paired with SOFT EIS dot skates. Final Thoughts Slightly faster movement, easier starting, brutal stopping power, and that perfecthead-flick feeling with Matty-level tracking—all in one pad: PELZ Reworked.Enjoy!Mark
