Uncharted Colors Presents:
BERMUDA TRIANGLE™
Whether or not the 1878 loss of HMS Eurydice and the 1880 disappearance of HMS Atalanta were, as some claimed, the result of influence from a mysterious triangle (the vertices of which were claimed to be Miami, Bermuda and San Juan), or simply the result of explainable events, the stage was set for an enduring urban myth.
Over the years, ships went missing from the triangle without a trace, like the Atalanta and the USS Cyclops in 1918. Others were found adrift with crews having apparently vanished, like the Connemara IV in 1955 and the Carroll A. Deering in 1921.
Planes weren’t immune to the rumored power of the mysterious triangle either. In 1945 Flight 19, a group of five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers, went missing along with a PBM Mariner with a crew of 13 deployed to search for the missing planes. In 1948 a Douglas DC-3 and the British South American Airways plane Star Tiger disappeared without a trace. In 1949 they were followed into the void by the BSAA plane Star Ariel.
The effects attributed to the Bermuda Triangle were not limited to disappearances though. Plane and ship instruments were also claimed to be affected (thanks to advanced technology from the lost continent of Atlantis, some say). Was this the cause of the supposed collision and crash into the Atlantic of two USAF Stratotankers in 1963?
We aren’t able to explain the strange happenings in the Bermuda Triangle, but we’re excited to introduce a new Uncharted Color inspired by the impenetrable deep blue-green depths of the Atlantic and the unexplained events that took place there.
Enigmatic and richly evocative, our Bermuda Triangle infuses any project with unexplainable allure.
