Each slip is handmade from Hermann Oak Vegetable Tanned Grade-A Tooling Leather. The very best available. I stand behind everything I make. If you have a problem, I will make it right. Here are some tips to keep your slip in top condition.

1. Tight is right! I use thick leather to achieve crisp tooling impressions, retain your knife safely and securely, and by gently squeezing the side of the slip, release it easily into your hand. Initially, your slip will be tight but will naturally mold to the knife over a short period of time. There is no need to wet-form the slip.

2. "This stuff wears like iron!" I wish that was true. However, it wears like leather. Some colors will darken and some will mellow. This natural patina has a rather beautiful way of marking the passage of time.

3. Leather and water do not make good friends.

4. All goods are oiled before leaving my workshop and do not need active upkeep. The most common mistake when oiling leather is applying too much too often. If, a few years from now, you wish to lightly oil your slip, I recommend gently wiping with quality extra virgin olive oil applied to a soft cloth.
