The tassel embellishment owes its beginnings to a debonair man-about-town named Paul Lukas. In the 1940s the penny loafer was at the height of its popularity and Lukas was looking for something different. Having recently been impressed by a pair of oxfords with tasseled laces, he approached his shoemaker and asked that tassels replace the strap of his penny loafer; thus the tasseled loafer was born. The Cavendish is crafted on Crockett &amp; Jones’ 325 last, a classic English round-toed design. It is made from the finest quality shell cordovan from the Horween Leather Company. Shell cordovan has unique aesthetic qualities as well as being incredibly durable. A sharp yet comfortable loafer, it can be dressed up or down with ease. Founded in Northampton in 1879, Crockett &amp; Jones a fifth generation family-owned company. Representing the finest in materials and workmanship, Crockett &amp; Jones’ Goodyear welted shoes are 100% made in England.
