Primêre Blaar presents a remarkable South African classic with notes of dried exotic fruit and lush textures. Chenin Blanc—often referred to locally as “steen”—is the most widely planted grape in South Africa, with Breedekloof serving as the heart of its cultivation. Historically, this region made a name for itself producing sweet dessert wines but has recently entered the white wine world stage with stunning examples of its signature variety. Our South African winemaking partners have been working in Breedekloof for over 70 years and are familiar with the nuances of this region’s diverse landscape and unique growing conditions. They harvest this fruit from 15-year-old vines and ferment it in stainless steel tanks to accentuate Chenin’s fruit-forward characteristics. The finished wine offers a prime example of a regional specialty that is best served well chilled while flipping the pages of your favorite adventure novel.
