The vanilla flavors from the oak are well integrated and balanced by the spiciness of the rye grain. The mid palate has hints of dried cherry, orange, and golden raisin, which leads into a warm, building finish of black pepper spice that dances on the palate. Its high-rye mash bill results in light notes of pumpernickel on the nose as well as cinnamon and molasses. The palate touches on those as well as offering up gingersnap and black pepper with a decided char. It’s a delicious and fairly priced whiskey that blends beautifully in any cocktail!” says Sother Teague.
