”A writer’s life and work are not a gift to mankind; they are its necessity.“ - Toni Morrison, Peril
Language, in all forms, is one of our most powerful tools for shaping the world within and around us. It is an attempt to reach for and translate the truths we observe; the truths we wish to call in and create for ourselves and others.
This space is for those who hold a reverence for language – whether through a tailored writing practice or a budding curiosity – to feel empowered to wield it through essay, poetry, song, and story for collective remembrance and re-imagination.
In this space, you’ll be guided through Socratic Circle discussion, partnered ideation, and individual writing prompts.
As an experience rooted in pleasure, play, and exploration, this gathering is an opportunity to give form to collective wisdom and to nurture self-expression.
We hope you leave with seeds of inspiration, questions to explore further, and a deepened appreciation for the role of language in world-building and bridging.
Doors open at 7pm. Workshop begins & doors close at 7:30pm.
Led by Sheridan Coomer
A Note from the Teahouse: With each workshop, we’re fusing the work of local artists and teachers together with our space and community. These evenings imprint new relationships, weave new worlds, and spark new beginnings. Thank you for your support.
