Creator Notes: When I began watchmaking in 2018, I discovered the ‘Lord of the Chapter Rings,’ a legendary watch by the brand with the crown logo. Its younger sibling, the BB58, became famous for resembling an early version of the ultimate dive watch, featuring a large crown without guards.
Namoki asked me to collaborate on a DIY kit to honor this iconic design:
Case: NMK939 with a big crown, slim bezel, and ‘top hat’ sapphire.
Bracelet: Riveted end plates and female links, echoing early dive watches.
Dial and Hands: BB58 dial with gold accents and merc hands, capturing 1950s style.
Bezel Insert: Brushed steel with white indices and a red triangle at 12.
My YouTube channel, ‘Watch Me Build It’ (WMBI), inspired the kit name: The MB-78. Collaborating with Namoki is an honor, and I hope you enjoy this tribute to the iconic dive watch.
