Water oaks can make a great addition to any hunting property especially if you have wet areas where nothing else will grow. As the name implies these trees can handle wet areas. A couple of months of flooding during the winter is no problem for these trees. Don't limit them to wet sites though, they do just as well in drier upland areas.  Water oaks produce small acorns. This coupled with their water tolerance make them a great option to plant around duck ponds and in flood prone areas to provide a food source for ducks. Natural stands of flooded water oak make for fantastic wood duck hunting. Other species like deer and turkeys utilize water oaks acorns as well.  Adaptable, water tolerant, and great for waterfowl.
