The Magic first wore these uniforms during the strike shortened 98-99 season, which was also Hardaway's final year in Orlando. Hardaway had an excellent swan song in 1999, averaging 15.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. But with the Magic's first round playoff loss it was time for a change, and Hardaway was traded to Phoenix in the summer.
