A beautiful, decorative Salix americana willow tree, handmade in Poland.Woven willows are a great idea for decorating a garden, terrace or balcony. Thin, shiny willow shoots blend perfectly with light and dark green leaves. Buds and flowers appear in very early spring, so each tree decorates the garden for a long time.
The braided willow performs great as a garden plant (planted directly into the ground) as well as grown in pots on balconies and terraces.
The Braided Willow is easy to plant and care for, but it is happiest in a moist, water-retentive spot. Keep well watered, especially in hot, dry weather. For best results, and to keep soil moist the longest: water in the early morning, or evening. This tree prefers full sun to part shade.
Whether you choose to plant them in a large container, or in your garden, mulching around the base of the tree will provide extra support in warm or cold weather. Although the Braided Willow is very hardy and can withstand severe frost, we suggest you plant the tree in a flower bed for the winter months. Be sure to plant them 6” deep.
This versatile plant can be potted and added to patios, or directly into the garden creating a spectacular focal point.
To maintain it’s decorative, manicured look, cut back the top growth in early Spring, before lightly shaping 2-3 more times during the Summer as needed. Remove any shoots that scarcely pop out on the lower stems. Removing the suckers or shoots not only creates a more pristine and well-kept look, it allows the Willow to focus all of its nutrients into the tree’s growth.
