Since moving to Florida, I have collected shells at Sanibel Beaches including Lighthouse, Bowman's, Blind Pass, Turner, and Gulfside Park, and Captiva. Living close gives me the opportunity to shell on the weekends.
**Due to oversupply that I picked up on the beach. They are not perfect, but can be used as craft shells. The majority of the shell is intact. I don't sell junk.
I design and sell. Here are 50 dosinia clam shells ranging in size from 1.5" - 2.5 inches. They have been in the ocean their life and washed up. Some may be a little rough on the side, but sandpaper can easily polish anything out. These circular white clams were collected at Gulfside City Park and Tarpon Bay on Sanibel Island the past few weeks. They are really coming in on the beach in bunches at low tide. I have seen these drilled at Christmas and used as To: and From: tags for a coastal theme. A thin sharpie marker leaves a permanent mark and these are easy to write on. All shells have been cleaned and dipped three seconds in a combination of 2/3 water and 1/3 muriatic acid to remove the scaly white residue and washed twice more. Afterwards, I look at each shell to make sure it is not broken and place those that are in a separate bag for "craft shells".

Shells can be used for coastal themes, filling vases, making lamps as well as your creations. No harm has come to any animal as I only collect empty shells.
