This tallow is hard at room temp and will start to soften at 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Needs to be stored in a cool dry place away from light and humidity. Do not refrigerate. You can freeze but once unfrozen needs to be stored as mentioned above and used within a month. My tallow has a scorch point of around 500 degrees f.
This Tallow is sourced from local farmers in eastern Montana, western North Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado. The cattle here have the most beautiful fat from the long cold winters as it grows on them in mass to keep them warm in our long winters.
You won’t find better tallow for making skincare products, soaps, hair care or cooking.
My tallow is meticulously cleaned of all meat and tendons before rendering so it is not rendered in a way that takes on Meaty scents and flavors. It will far surpass all other tallows as they all are purified via wet renders or renders at high heats combined with meaty particles and with additives such as preservatives and salts that kill beneficial enzymes and strip it of the collagen. In fact did you know water rendering REMOVES the collagen altogether? also mainstream tallow companies dilute their tallow with preservatives and detergents, they call it (purifying, preserving and cleaning) the fat. Knowing how the tallow is handled that goes into you’re skincare or diet is crucial to having a product that is the most beneficial and nutrient dense without harmful additives and over processing.
Also did you know that main stream conventional tallows are usually rendered WITH the rest of the scrap meat and carcasses usually laying out to rot for weeks at a time after which they are all collected and put in huge rendering ovens cooking the rotting flesh and carcasses down at high temps for long periods of time then letting it cool and scraping the fat that floats to the top off and then further processing then packaging up and selling mainstream. This is how the big brand conventional tallows are made. This creates a highly processed tallow that has been stripped of all beneficial ingredients, cooked down with rotting flesh. YUK the outcome appears clean and scent free but is hardly equal to small batch hand rendered that is never a by product of the entire rotten dead stink of a traditional rendering plant.
This tallow sets up solid at room temp which makes it the perfect tallow for pemmican recipes. Comes triple strained and is Rendered at low heats to retain enzymes, minerals & nutrients in the fat that are then transferred into your products or diet. We DO NOT cook out the tallow as other companies do, and you will see, smell feel & taste the difference.

Your tallow is sealed in a food grade bpa free plastic bucket. If you prefer you’re tallow in glass containers for those of you conscious of microplastics and or sensitive to other possible petroleum and plastic based leaching please se my other listings that are put into and shipped via high quality glass jars. Also please be advised that my tallow is MADE TO ORDER. It is not sitting around for months before it is shipped to you. It comes freshly rendered within the week of receiving. ALSO NOTE that in the plastic containers it is only guaranteed good shelf life for 2 months in the plastic containers since they are NOT air tight. I ship these plastic containers for convenience to my customers and if you want it to keep for a year or more then it needs to be put in glass air tight containers. As per this listing. Glass containers good for years if kept in cool dark place, once opened will keep months if lid kept on tight and away from humidity. Please make sure utensils used to scoop out tallow need to be clean and dry and not leaving any moisture behind in tallow. My tallow DOES NOT HAVE preservatives so more care needs to be taken as in the olden days as to care for it! When kept right it will last months if not years even after opened. Most everyone purchasing it in the plastic containers are using it up within the month either with product making or cooking. If you would like instructions on how to easily transfer it into glass mason jars for long term storage please shoot me a PM and I will gladly send instructions or I advise you to purchase the Tallow for purchase already in glass jars under my listing.
Please note that tallow is poured at barely liquid temps into plastic storage containers so it is never HOT when going into plastic shipping/storage containers to reduce leaching of Plastic. If you purchase your tallow in the glass containers you need not worry about this.
It is shipped in a cardboard fitted box wrapped and protected. Every order is shipped USPS, fedex or UPS mail with tracking. Currently I’m offering free shipping with Etsy but as costs rise I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to offer this. I usually ship twice every week. If you need a rush on your order, please advise. It can be rushed via 2 day or overnight for an additional fee.
Tallow is measured by volume in the containers, not weight so it can vary by a few ounces as some fat renders down more dense than others.
