"Genius" is the divine nature of each person, present in every person. Like a guardian angel, Genius would safeguard each person from birth to death. This coin features Genius Populi Romani - the Genius of the Roman people - as families, groups, cities, and here, the people of the Republic, were held to have a collective Genius. On the back (reverse) is a scepter, wreath, globe and rudder.</span><br></p>
