The Luminous & Shadow Collection is inspired by the Norse mythology of the God of Light, Baldr, and the God of Darkness, Höðr. In Norse mythology, light and darkness are eternally intertwined, coexisting and reflecting one another. Where there is light, there is also darkness, for nothing is everlasting.
This 24-shade palette spans from luminous golds and fiery reds to cool blues and deep grays. The palette's design features a striking black-and-white split, symbolizing the delicate balance between the realms of light and dark. One side contains vibrant, warm hues reminiscent of the gentle brilliance of dawn, representing Baldr, the God of Light. Baldr was known for his beauty and radiance, embodying the essence of purity and brightness in the world. His tragic death, caused by his blind brother Höðr, marked the beginning of darkness encroaching upon the world.
On the opposite side, you’ll find cool, shadowy tones that reflect the mysterious depths of night, embodying Höðr, the God of Darkness. Höðr, though blind, is powerful and symbolizes the inevitable presence of shadow and uncertainty in life. His act of unknowingly bringing about Baldr’s death underlines the inescapable intertwining of light and darkness, as one cannot exist without the other.
This collection is a homage to the eternal dance of light and dark, of day and night, captured in a versatile palette that allows you to explore both sides of this timeless duality.
