A little goes a long way. One teaspoon is plenty for a dog and more than enough for a cat. If you see the dust when it's brushed in, you are using too much. This should be done under dry conditions in a ventilated area so as not to inhale a cloud of dust. Keep out of eyes, nose and mouth. One to two ounces is enough to dust a large herbivore (e.g. a horse). It lasts a very long time unless washed away. In dryer climates, treatment twice a year may be enough.
