This is an Antique American quilt top made circa 1930's. It is a traditional Thrifty Quilt pattern. This piece is exceptional for its tiny pieces, its museum worthy hand quilting, and its meticulous hand sewing. This has been technically executed by a true master and is a treasure. We believe that the quilt was backed closer to the midcentury due to the poly-cotton fabric that was used. The pastel yellow backing fabric adds a nice pop when the cuffs are rolled or the jacket is worn upside down. We love the variety of novelty fabrics the maker used on the top. In our opinion this piece is super soft, light weight, has a little loft (puffiness), and has a great drape. This piece is very comfortable to wear. PLEASE NOTE: the sleeves are 1 1/2" shorter than our standard Aunt Ethel Pattern. If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.
The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
