One of Ogata Korin's aliases was 'Kansei,' and he was a pioneer of the Rinpa School of Japanese painting. With a concentration on natural aspects such as the slowly flowing river and the major focus on carnations, this piece pays homage to it. Murakami, on the other hand, has cleverly reimagined this visual look by incorporating his own graphic motifs. Murakami transcends traditional visual vocabulary to build his own distinctive route, from the almost neon colours that dramatically contrast against the black background to the smiling flowers that have replaced portrayals of carnations.</p>
