Choosing Feather or Down
Feathers are party of a bird’s outer layer (wings & back). Down fibres are beneath the protective feather covering and are used for insulation by the bird. Down material lasts longer, is more expensive, and is softer. Feather and down blends provide an economical way to get the feel of a natural pillow and the down provides the extra support needed to prevent the pillow from going flat. Most pillows use a combination of feather and down to provide provide strength and support in the pillow. Pillows that use exclusively down tend to be much more expensive due to the rarity of the down and they offer the ultimate in softness and support.
Fill Power
Fill power in simple terms can be used a measurement for quality. The higher the fill power the better the quality of the down being used. The better the quality of the down the softer your pillow will be. Better quality down provides more support, keeps its shapes and the lifespan of the pillow is longer.
