SPOTTED MOONSTONE: Moonstone is a naturally occurring semi precious gemstone which looks clear to white from some angles, and then from other angles, has an iridescent blue / rainbow sheen running thru it, also known as a "flash"! This iridescent sheen is caused by the diffraction of light off of micro-fractures within its many feldspar layers. Moonstone has been used in jewelry dating back to ancient civilizations. The Romans believed moonstone was actually crystalized rays of the moon! Many cultures have believed that moonstone harnesses the energy of the moon and passes that energy onto its wearer, bringing harmony, balance, and calm. This particular moonstone is spotted with black tourmaline inclusions which give the stones tons of contrast & character! Moonstone has many naturally occurring micro-fractures and cracks that run through the stone. This is normal and what causes it's brilliant iridescence! These particular stones also have black tourmaline mineral inclusions as well. Small rough patches are naturally occurring parts of the stone. Please note that we go to great lengths to ensure that all of these stones have nice iridescent flash to them. We know that ALL of our customers want the flashiest moonstone! Due to high demand, we can no longer take requests for "the most colorful flash". We do our best to make sure all the stones have lovely flash. We also cannot take requests for the exact placement of the black tourmaline.
