WHY THIS BATTERYBecause this battery has the highest amperage output that is needed to operate the lock. Locate the battery compartment inside the safe Pinch together the tabs on the battery tray and slide it out Correctly insert a Duracell Coppertop 9-Volt battery into the tray and slide tray back into compartment [lock will chime] Alternatively, you can simply plug in the included power cord into the port located on the left side of the safe Yes, you can have both the battery installed and the power cord plugged in at the same time   Setting your 6-Digit Combination NOTE: When you first receive the safe the electronic keypad is set to the factory default of 1-2-3-4-1-2 STEP 1: Press ONCE [do NOT hold] the Change Combination Button The Change Combination Button is located inside the safe next to the red interior light STEP 2: Enter your NEW 6-digit code - Lock will beep, click & light will turn on Factory Default Code is 1-2-3-4-1-2 Your new combination has been successfully set! IMPORTANT! Test your new code several times with the door open to ensure the new code is properly set up before closing and locking the safe so you don’t get locked out.   Silent Mode To turn ON Silent Mode press and hold Button 4 for about 5 Seconds until you see a light flash. To turn OFF Silent Mode Hold Button 4 again until light flashes and you hear a beep.   Resetting your Safe Hold down the change combination button until lock chimes Lock will reset to the factory default code: 1-2-3-4-1-2   TROUBLESHOOTING LOCKOUT MODE: If the safe is constantly beeping and won’t let you enter your code on the electronic keypad, this means your safe is in LOCKOUT MODE. This is a built-in safety feature that happens with 5 consecutive wrong entry attempts. Wait 5 minutes for beeping/flashing to stop [with power added to the safe]. Retry your code or reset your safe back to default settings by holding down the change combination button button. Please Note: Power must be added to the safe during the whole 5 minute lockout period via either the installed battery or power cord. Removing the power will only pause the 5 minute timer, only to be resumed once power is added back to the safe. LOW BATTERY: if buttons can be pressed and clicks to unlock but the safe door doesn't open, short red flash after entry attempt on keypad. This means the battery you have installed in the safe is low and doesn’t have enough power to open the door of the safe. You will need to open the safe with the override key or plug in the power cable and enter your code. Then replace the battery with a brand new Duracell Coppertop 9V Battery.
