<p>There are many traditional Asian dishes, but one that&rsquo;s beloved and has been fully embraced in America is definitely the spring roll. We know it from Chinese food takeout, but it&rsquo;s also a staple in Vietnamese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine. These spring rolls are also called banh trang in Thailand and Vietnam. </p> <p>These rice wrappers are made out of tapioca and rice starch, making them 100% gluten free and suitable for gluten-free and paleo diets. Also called rice paper, they can be filled and baked, or dipped in warm water and served as clear summer rolls or salad rolls. The trick to these Spring Roll Wrappers is that warm-water dip prior to use. Dip them in warm water until just wet &ndash; not soaked &ndash; so the paper becomes pliable. Remove and lay flat, and then wait for a minute or two before filling. </p> <p>Fill them with veggies, shrimp, pulled pork, meat, chicken, or really whatever your fancy takes you. Rice and veggies are a great, easy combo for a filling meal, while shrimp, rice noodles and assorted veggies is a classic combination. It makes for a healthy meal, with very few calories, carbs or fat. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce &ndash; soy sauce, peanut sauce, perhaps a classic hoisin sauce. They&rsquo;re handy, versatile and easy to use. These particular type of wrappers are NOT suitable for frying but can be baked or steamed. About 30-35 wrappers per package approximately. </p>
