Looking for a vintage fur jacket that very few people would have? If you are, this gorgeous vintage soft grey leather and ivory mink fur coat by Conklin Furs could be for you!!! It is in very good vintage condition and has been cleaned by a well-known furrier in Manhattan recently. The fur is still in excellent condition and is soft and non-shedding. I did have them patch a hole in one of the fabulously soft pockets and you can't even tell there was ever anything there. Otherwise the lining is in very good condition and has the name "Frances" embroidered on the right side. In the interest of full disclosure, there are a few very minor issues with the lining: one or two small brown spots (you can see them on the photo of the inside), two small holes? on the left side at the bottom (see pictures), and one small section on the hem where it might eventually need to be re-sewn at the bottom but I think they actually stretched it a bit to double check the quality of the backing of the mink to make sure it was good condition (which it is).
The leather has a wonderfully soft feel and is a lovely light grey. It does have some not super noticeable darker spots throughout but looking at them, I think they could be cleaned with some leather cleaner or by a professional if you wanted to. I recently had the end of the belt professionally re-glued and it looks brand new and is in otherwise great condition. Honestly, the coat is about 55-60 years old so given that it is overall amazing.
For keeping out the cold, it features metal snaps that go the length of the coat, as well as a fabulous attached belt to make the coat even more feminine. And as an added feature, there is a great hidden hook and loop closure on the fur collar to keep your neck warm as well!!!
The measurements are:
20.5 inches from shoulder to cuff
33 inches from just under the collar to the hem
30 inches from where the closure starts in the front at the neck to the hem
20 inches from pit to pit (measured flat)
17 inches across the waist (measured laying flat, across the front)
**For reference, I am 5 foot 4, about 143 pounds, and a 36D and I can put it on but cannot completely close it (the bottom will snap but the top will not) and the sleeves do not quite go down to my wrists. It also hits me about mid thigh.**
