1 Organic Mandarin Orange fruit tree unrooted cutting. Grow your own citrus fruit tree at home indoors or outdoors (depending on your agriculture zone). These seeds are from organically grown trees and harvested from the best handpicked fruits. Mandarin orange trees make an excellent choice for bonsai as well. Easy to grow and start in your own garden at home. Mandarin oranges are one of the original citrus cultivators. "Regular" Oranges for example are actually a hybrid of mandarin oranges and pomelo. A great source of vitamin C as well as A and B and other important vitamins/minerals. NonGMO heirloom and harvested from pesticide free trees. 1 healthy fruit tree cutting ready for propagation. These are unrooted cuttings. 3, 5, and 10 count seed packs also available. Mayer Lemon, Calamansi Lime, and other citrus fruit seeds also available. All citrus tree cuttings are dipped in root hormone powder to help boost the propagation rate and keep your cutting happy and healthy. Each cutting is wrapped in a damp paper towel to keep them moist while in transit. Instructions on how to grow your cuttings are usually added to each package (please forgive me if I run out when packing orders) and is also available at the bottom of this listing description. The mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata), also known as mandarin or mandarine, is a small, rounded citrus tree fruit. Treated as a distinct species of orange, it is usually eaten plain or in fruit salads. Tangerines are a group of orange-colored citrus fruit consisting of hybrids of mandarin orange with some pomelo contribution. Citrus reticulata is a moderate-sized tree some 7.6 metres (25 ft) in height. The tree trunk and major branches have thorns. The leaves are shiny, green, and rather small. The petioles are short, almost wingless or slightly winged. The flowers are borne singly or in small groups in the leaf-axils. Citrus are usually self-fertile (needing only a bee to move pollen within the same flower) or parthenocarpic (not needing pollination and therefore seedless, such as the satsuma). A mature mandarin tree can yield up to 79 kilograms (175 lb) of fruit. Mandarins are generally peeled and eaten fresh or used in salads, desserts and main dishes. Fresh mandarin juice and frozen juice concentrate are commonly available in the United States. The number of seeds in each segment (carpel) varies greatly. Fresh mandarins are also used in the production of some drinks and spirits, such as Mandarine Napoléon. The peel is used fresh, whole or zested, or dried as chenpi. It can be used as a spice for cooking, baking, drinks, or candy. Essential oil from the fresh peel may be used as a flavouring for candy, in gelatins, ice cream, chewing gum, and baked goods. It is also used as a flavouring in liqueurs. In Chinese cuisine, the peel of the mandarin orange, called chenpi, is used to flavor sweet dishes and sauces. Canned mandarin segments are peeled to remove the white pith before canning; otherwise, they turn bitter. Segments are peeled using a chemical process. First, the segments are scalded in hot water to loosen the skin; then, they are bathed in a lye solution, which digests the albedo and membranes. Finally, the segments are rinsed several times in plain water. Once orange segments are properly prepared, mandarin oranges undergo heat processing to remove bacteria that can cause spoilage. The oranges are then packed in airtight sealed containers. Ascorbic acid may also be added. I offer a variety of budwood cuttings like these. Please message me if you are looking for a particular citrus or other plant cutting. Thank you! Here are the basic instructions on how to plant a cutting. Prepare the Cutting: 1) Apply Rooting Hormone (Optional): Dip the bottom of the cutting in rooting hormone. This step will help encourage root growth but is optional. 2) Prepare the Pot: Fill a small pot with well-draining potting mix. Make a hole in the center of the soil to plant your cutting. Dampen the soil slightly with water, but do not overwater. 3) Plant the Cutting: Insert the cutting into the hole, burying the lower end about 1-2 inches deep. Gently press the soil around the cutting to secure it in place. 4) Create Humidity: Cover the pot with a plastic bag or use a humidity dome to maintain high humidity around the cutting. Be sure the plastic doesn’t touch the leaves to avoid moisture buildup that can cause mold. 5) Water and Care: Mist the cutting lightly with a spray bottle to keep the soil and the leaves slightly damp. Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight. 6) Monitor and Maintain: Check the cutting daily, misting it if the soil begins to dry out. Avoid overwatering, as citrus cuttings prefer a moist but not soggy environment. Make sure the pot has proper drainage to prevent waterlogging. 7) Watch for Root Growth: After about 4-6 weeks, gently tug on the cutting. If you feel resistance, it’s a good sign that roots are developing. Transplanting: Once the cutting has established roots and new growth appears, you can transplant it into a larger pot or directly into the garden. Pro Tips: Citrus cuttings prefer warm temperatures. Try to keep them in an environment between 70-80°F (21-27°C). Avoid direct sunlight during the rooting process, as it can dry out the cuttings. Be patient! Rooting citrus can take several weeks, but with care, you’ll have a thriving new plant. Please note leaves may yellow a little bit while in transit, this is normal. The lime tree leaves tend to have a lighter green color already. Colors in photos may vary due to your device screen or settings. Please make sure to open your order asap when it arrives. If you have any issue with an order please contact me for support. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and good luck with your propagation! Thank you for browsing!
