The best way to ship bamboo! Our freshly harvested divisions -- 1 cane with 1-3 nodes and a root mass attached -- are loaded with life and energy to create a "sea of green" in just 2 years. Seabreeze bamboo is a prized clumping (non-invasive) variety commonly used for privacy screens, windbreaks, and singular ornamental beauty due to the incredible amount of foliage it pushes into the sky. Furthermore the wood generally grows straight and thick, making it useful for many applications -- crafts, buildings, gardening, etc. Your divisions will be freshly harvested, wrapped to retain moisture and nutrients, and shipped directly to you. Planting is a breeze as your digging will be minimal and all you'll need is water and a bit of fertilizer or compost if your native soil needs amending. WHAT TO EXPECT Within a few weeks your Seabreeze cane will start pushing side growth -- what looks like little spines will soon grow into full on branches loaded with leaves. As your attached root mass becomes established over 3-6 months you'll see the most exciting part of bamboo gardening -- brand new shoots or culms emerging from the roots themselves. The first year could bring a handful of culms, but it's the second year where larger culms in the dozens will bless you with a wonderful green wall that rustles in the wind. When growing Seabreeze, the choice is yours: A classical squared off hedge is achieved with a spacing of 5ft between plants and then continually topping them to a height of 6ft. (When a bamboo culm is topped, that culm will never grow taller). If it's a towering specimen you're wanting, simply let your clump grow to a diameter of about 10ft within 5 years. Seabreeze bamboo or Bambusa Malingensis is a non-invasive species (will not run all over your yard) and grows radially (in a circular pattern).
