Each block measures ~9x6x6 inches and weighs ~5lbs. Shiitake (Lentinula edodes): Our shiitake fruiting block features a popular strain that produces light brown, medium-to-large, umbrella-shaped caps. Shiitake mushrooms are a delicious edible fungus from East Asia and their flavor is described as rich, savory, buttery, and umami. This strain tends to produce generous flushes, making them a great mushroom for confident beginners and intermediate growers. Blue Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus): Our blue oyster block is a fast substrate colonizer with a strong bluish-gray hue. It produces richly umami mushrooms with a soft, meaty texture that pairs well with most dishes. Oysters are very reliable producers and tend to yield large flushes of mushrooms.
