This replacement stem is for the ?Old Style? full-turn 500 series Mansfield style wall hydrants only (578-06, 579-06). This older style wall hydrant may have either a right hand or left hand packing nut, so the replacement stem comes complete with both right and left hand graphite packing (packing nuts sold separately) and is pre-tapped (threaded) for the handle screw. The Mansfield 500 series was a full-turn model (hydrant handle turns a full 360 degrees to turn the water on) and was manufactured from 1970-2006.
