<p>The distillery was founded in 1879 by Charles Mortimer Dedman.</p>
<p>Due to Prohibition, which prohibited the production, sale as well as transportation of alcohol, Kentucky Owl was closed.</p>
<p>The whiskey was confiscated by the government and taken to a warehouse for storage - but the warehouse mysteriously burned down with all the good whiskey.</p>
<p> Dixon Deman, Charles' great-great-grandson, took the fate of his family into his own hands and made it his goal to revive his family history.</p>
