Crystal Titanium® is a proprietary, custom metal—patented and manufactured by Architectural Titanium. It starts as mill-finish titanium sheets or plates, which are secured in specialized fixtures and placed in a high-vacuum furnace—equivalent to the vacuum of outer space. The metal is gradually heated to near-melting temperatures, transforming it into something truly extraordinary. By making the pen Oval I was able keep the bolt flushed with the body of the pen and only in the extended position would the bolt be slightly higher than the frame of the pen body.
