D.H. Cromwell Batch 2

Old Commonwealth's 2025 release of D.H. Cromwell is a 15-year small batch Kentucky straight bourbon. It was re-barreled in new, charred oak barrels from Kelvin Cooperage for ten months before blending and bottling. It's decadent, rich, and packs a long finish. Nose: The deep amber whiskey opens up quickly, getting rounder by the minute. Toasted cinnamon and chocolate cocoa nibs are prominent, as are red fruit notes. There’s leather in there, and the overall vibe is earthy and old, but well-rounded and balanced. The nose is big and bold, hinting at a strength above its 105.5 proof. Palate: Lightweight, the whiskey first hits the back of your tongue, bringing cherry and strawberry preserves immediately. Toasted vanilla bean and crème brûlée show up next, alongside oak notes that complement instead of shout. No sharp edges here, just a complete, round sip, with plenty of juicy fruit alongside balancing anchors like tobacco. Finish: It’s a substantial finish, that starts fruity and ends drier, ending with a note of toasted streusel topping and a hint of orange zest.
