Jam Session European Plum

Prunus domestica ssp. insititia 'Jam Session' This rich fruit "jazzes" up preserves, tarts and chutneys! Cornell has released this beautiful, heavily productive, small, freestone plum for the making of richly-flavored, Damson-style plum jam or sauce. Its parentage is open pollinated x Late Muscatel. The skin is bright blue and the flesh a greenish-yellow. Flavor is less astringent that its sister variety Blues Jam. The tree looks beautiful in mid September, loaded with thousands of ripe blue fruit. Also called NY 111. Partially self-fruitful; plant with another European plum for better fruit set. Can lapse into biennial bearing if allowed to over-set fruit in its early years.
