Beginner Classes

Learn something new! Learn to Knit (all three sessions): April 15th, 5-7pm April 22nd, 5-7pm April 29th, 5-7pm Unwind Staff will provide six hours of instruction to help you learn everything you need to know to Knit All The Things. Includes a Learn to Knit supplies kit. Learn to Crochet: Coming Soon! Unwind Staff will help you add this hot hot hobby to your making repertoire. And if you are a knitter who doesn’t crochet, it's time to change that, it’s truly ALL THE RAGE right now! Taught over three 2 hour sessions, students will learn chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet while making several small projects: a mug rug and a washcloth. Materials are included in the class cost, and include a Prym crochet hook and yarn.  Next Steps in Knitting: Pattern Reading; May 13th, 5-7pm Have you taken one of our Learn to Knit classes but feel intimidated when it comes to pattern reading? Or maybe you have knit for a long time but just want to brush up on pattern interpration? Well, this is the class for you! Unwind Staff will guide you step by step, from understanding basic pattern abbreviations to following charts. We'll answer your questions, assist with skill development, and generally help you make progress on your knitting adventure. Feel free to bring a specific pattern about which you have questions.  Small Circumference Knitting, COMING SOON: Unwind Staff will provide four hours of instruction to help you knit small circumference items--think hats, sleeves, and socks. This class is a prerequisite for Learn to Knit Socks if you are unfamiliar with knitting in the round. Learn to Knit Socks, COMING SOON: Unwind Staff will provide six hours of instruction to help you make beautiful socks. Must know knitting basics and have some familiarity working with DPNs. Project yarn and needles purchased separately. Unless otherwise noted, all classes are in person at Unwind Fiber Arts, limited to 5 persons, and all supplies are sold separately.
