This is a rare piece by the mid century artist Leonore Doskow. Why is it rare? Welp, because Leonore mostly did custom pieces with the customer's initials. It's difficult to find such a fabulous and artistic design. In nearly 20 years, this is the most amazing piece by Doskow that I've seen. The fish are swimming past seaweed and a window... A window? I'm thinking it's a shipwreck. Maybe the Titanic. There aren't any windows like this in an aquarium, right? This 3-dimensional beauty has a hammered surface with a rich patina that adds depth, so I didn't polish it. As mentioned in the title, these fish weigh 12.6 grams. It actually feels heavier than that to me, but I can't argue with my scale, because it doesn't talk back. The diameter of this ocean scene is 2.15 inches... Pretty big. The back sports a pin, hinge and rolling lock that work great. Note the bends in the pin. Those are on purpose. I've seen many pieces in which artists adjust the pin so that it fits into the lock correctly. There's no damage to note other than the typical surface wear of a vintage item. Hallmarks are LEONORE DOSKOW HANDMADE STERLING. This is a fantastic find to add to your collection. If you don't collect... yet... it is really habit forming, and it's a lot better than collecting dryer lint.
