This fruit is also very popular in Central America and the Caribbean. Indigenous people of the Caribbean and South America (Tainos and Mayans to name a few) called them “Kenep” which is why many countries have names that sound similar or rhyme with it. Almost every country has a different name for them. Some common names are: Guinep, Limoncillo, Kenep, Quenepa, Chenette, Mamon, Huaya and more! Flavor Profile: The flavor is tangy and sweet- similar to limeade. The look of it is similar to a longan or lychee but the texture is softer. It’s like a lime flavored lychee with a hint of peach. How To Eat: They’re freshly picked every week when in season (July-September) and shipped to your doorstep. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
