Petitgrain Paraguay is the most common and, in the words of Steffen Arctander, the "most important by far of all the petitgrain oils." It is distilled exclusively from the bitter-sour variety of the orange tree (Citrus Aurantium), while Petitgrain Bigarade is made from the true Bitter orange tree (Citus Aurantium, Amara). In terms of the difference in odour and use, Petitgrain Paraguay is more fleeting and fresh while Petitgrain Bigarade has a slightly waxier and more woody quality. For slightly superior solubility and a longer lasting dry down we also have LMR's marvellous Petitgrain Paraguay Terpeneless. Petitgrain Paraguay blends well with orange bases such as Orange Blossom Supreme, Neroli Supreme, Floranol, Fleur d'Oranger and aroma chemicals such as Theaspirane, Nerolin (Yara Yara and Bromelia), Oranger Crystals and Coumarone.
