Ocean Echoes: Whale's Legacy

In the warm waters of Costa Rica’s southern Pacific, humpback whales gather during one of the most important moments of their long migration journeys. Here, both northern and southern populations arrive to mate, nurture their young, rest, and communicate through mysteriously beautiful songs that can travel for miles beneath the ocean’s surface. These songs are expressions of connection, memory, and life carried through the water for generations. Some continue for hours at a time, echoing through the Pacific in ways we are only beginning to understand. This meditative experience was created using real humpback whale recordings collected by Innoceana as part of ongoing research and conservation work in Costa Rica. By listening deeply to the ocean and the magnificent beings that call it home, listeners not only receive moments of calm, but deeper moments of connection with the natural world. The ocean is not separate from us. We are part of its story. Whale’s Echoes is created with the latest generation of Monroe Sound Science®, based on 3D spatial audio and mixed in Dolby Atmos, to create a deeply immersive experience. The featured ocean field recording sound design is by Chris Parker, Innoceana. Music is composed by Ignacio Diaz, Jr., Director of Music Strategy and Development at the Monroe Institute. If this experience resonates with you, we invite you to learn more and support Innoceana’s work to protect marine ecosystems and the species that depend on them.
