Katakuchi Matcha Bowl Zui

Handcrafted in Kyoto by NINSHU, the Katakuchi Matcha Bowl Zui embodies the quiet confidence of imperfect beauty. Its katakuchi shape—defined by a subtle spout—recalls traditional vessels once used for both tea and sake, offering both aesthetic presence and quiet functionality. The bowl’s form is hand-thrown with deliberate asymmetry, allowing the rhythm of the wheel and the maker’s touch to speak through every undulation. A pale glaze softens the iron-rich clay beneath, while flecks of black and charcoal rise to the surface in organic patterns, evoking stone, snow, or ink-splashed parchment. At the base, the unglazed foot and signature seal affirm NINSHU’s commitment to material honesty and traditional craftsmanship. Ideal for matcha preparation or as a small pourer for sauces and teas, this vessel reflects the values of restraint, utility, and natural elegance—an object not just for use, but for contemplation.
