The shoulders are sewn by hand — the technique that, on its own, marks the boundary between a constructed shirt and a made one. The armhole (giromanica) is executed using the arriccio manica technique: the sleeve is joined to the shoulder with a seam that gathers the fabric into minute folds, delivering absolute freedom of movement and that sense of fluidity that characterises the finest Neapolitan shirt-making.
