The Rampley Vintage Collection is made from archive silks recovered from decades of Italian textile production. The fabrics span 1962 to 1990, each one a time capsule to a different era of weaving. This Black and Red Botanical Panel Print Vintage Silk Tie is handmade in Italy using archive jacquard silk, screen printed, the fabric dating from 1982. Archive 100% Jacquard Silk c. 1982 150cm in Length 8cm Blade 3 Folds Self-Tipped Handmade in Italy ABOUT THE TIE The ground is divided into bold alternating panels of black and red, with framed vignettes set within each panel depicting birds, wheat sheaves, and botanical flowers in gold, blue, slate, and ivory. It is a pattern of considerable ambition, part decorative textile, part natural history illustration, and it reflects the willingness of the early 1980s Italian silk industry to treat a tie as a surface worth serious pictorial attention. The jacquard weave beneath the print gives the cloth a quiet structural richness, the screen-printed colours sitting on a ground that already has texture and depth. Each tie in The Vintage Collection is handmade in Italy, cut to our current silhouette. The construction and finish are identical to everything else we make. The difference is the cloth. HOW TO STYLE THIS TIE This is the tie in the collection that requires the most confidence to wear, and rewards it most visibly. The bold panel structure and the richness of the illustrated vignettes mean it needs space, a plain white or cream shirt and a dark suit, navy or charcoal, are the right partners.
