I was inspired to make this fragrance, this whole baneful garden collection as a matter of fact, because of one particular late summer day. My husband and i were driving to Lake Tahoe, we got tired and hungry, so we decided on a random rest stop at Mono Lake. It was unbelievably beautiful. I perused the board walk and was greeted by an otherworldly, surreal landscape dominated by towering limestone tufa towers. There were millions of birds feeding on the brine shrimp ahead, and as i got closer i found myself surrounded by these beautiful white flower clusters that i thought where tall queen annes lace flowers... and when i say surrounded, i mean literally millions of flowers over grown on both sides. Now it wasn't until i noticed a praying mantis on the stems that i realized these beautiful white flower clusters, that i was carelessly sniffing, were in fact poison water hemlock! i was ECSTATIC to say the least, i had never seen or smelled this before and as a perfumer i was just thrilled to the bone. then the thrill turned into "oh shit", now i had already exposed myself to potential hemlock pollen exposure, so i knew i had to tell my husband the stupid thing i did, you know, just in case i started showing symptoms... hemlock is a pretty terrible way to go, so that was y first concern... but after an hour i truly felt fine so i dragged him over to show him my findings like the goblin swamp witch i felt like at the moment! a true treasure! i didn't have my specimen kit or PPE(UUUGH!!) and as excited as i was, my husband refused to let me collect specimens. So all i could do was document the scent in great detail. Now today... i made the perfume that i talked about back in 2022... 4 years. Time really does fly when you're having fun, doesn't it.
