Mid to late 14thC Rondel replica dagger front grip made of two metal plates sandwiching an organic filler plate. Features a pair of concave steel rondels and a hexagonal ash grip with steel handle components.   The dagger has a very strong double sided, blade with a full edge and a half sharpened false edge and housed in a double layer veg tan leather sheath with incised decoration and a brass (latten) chape, and comes with a very distinctive 'cupped' leather sheath which has been shaped around the bottom rondel These early rondel daggers can be seen on effigies and artwork throughout the period. Later rondel daggers had a top 'disc' style guard as well but early ones had a more normal shaped dagger pommel as seen here. Blade length 24cm/9.5" Grip length 9.5cm/3.75" Overall 36cm/14" Edge sharpness Semi-Sharp is 'butter knife sharp'; it has a very fine flat on the edge Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.
